Trail of the Cedars
Before you get to the Avalanche Lake trail you hike on the Trail of the Cedars. This is a short loop and crosses the river. One side is paved, the other is a raised boardwalk. The boardwalk goes through a cedar forest.
This is the only place Cedars are found in the park. This is because of the conditions in this particular area. A microclimate exists that is favorable for cedars. It has a very different look and feel to the area.
